Cusco City.
Sacsayhuamán: The largest and most impressive of the four archaeological sites near Cusco, Peru. Construction began under the rule of Pachacútec in the 15th century, but it was completed by Huayna Cápac in the 16th century.
Qenqo: Meaning "zigzag" or "twisted labyrinth," the name likely comes from the intricate carved channels in the rock, possibly used to channel chicha (corn beer) or blood from llama sacrifices.
Located east of Sacsayhuamán at 3,600 meters above sea level, atop a limestone formation (Yuncaypata) dating back 80 million years to the Cretaceous period.
Pukapucara: A military fortress near Cusco, composed of large walls, terraces, and staircases. It was part of the defensive network protecting Cusco and the Inca Empire.
Tambomachay: Known as the "Inca Baths" or "Baths of the Ñusta," this site features two aqueducts that bring fresh water year-round, highlighting Inca hydraulic engineering.
Sacred Valley of the Incas.
Pisac Town: Located just 45 minutes from Cusco, Pisac is especially vibrant on Sundays when its famous artisan market comes alive. Locals from nearby villages, dressed in traditional clothing, sell handmade goods including alpaca wool clothing and musical instruments.
Archaeological Complex of Pisac: Located 30 km from Cusco, this site is shaped like a partridge of the highlands. Built by Inca Pachacutec, it includes agricultural terraces, ceremonial structures, and advanced aqueduct systems.
Kinsa Qocha, Azul Qocha, and Puma Qocha: Three stunning highland lakes offering breathtaking natural beauty.
Land of the Wise (Tierra de los Sabios): A community-based cultural experience in the Andes.
Perolniyoc Waterfall: A majestic 100-meter waterfall perfect for refreshing dips in crystal-clear waters.
Ollantaytambo: One of the most impressive Inca fortresses, built by Pachacutec as a military and religious stronghold. The site features massive, finely carved stone blocks and the famous Temple of the Sun on the upper terraces.
Moray Agricultural Terraces: Circular terraces believed to have been an Inca agricultural laboratory for crop experimentation.
Maras Salt Mines: Around 3,000 salt pools fed by an underground spring. According to legend, the salt formed from the tears of Ayar Cachi, brother of Ayar Manco, the founder of Cusco, giving the salt its pink and lilac hues.
Chinchero: Once the residence of Inca Túpac Inca Yupanqui. In 1536, during the Spanish invasion, Manco Inca set fire to Chinchero to prevent the Spanish from using its supplies, marking the beginning of his retreat into the jungle.
Machu Picchu.
Built before the 15th century in the Eastern Cordillera of southern Peru, at 2,430 meters above sea level. The Machu Picchu Historical Sanctuary – National Archaeological Park is recognized by UNESCO as both a cultural and natural heritage site. Spanning 37,302 hectares, it’s one of Peru’s most biodiverse areas and home to over 60 archaeological sites connected by an intricate network of Inca trails.
Palccoyo: Mountain of Seven Colors
Located south of imperial Cusco, this Andean gem features three colorful mountains offering spectacular views of the snow-capped Ausangate. A stunning alternative to Rainbow Mountain (Vinicunca).
