“An unforgettable trek to Apu Ausangate, the most powerful and sacred mountain in the Andes.”
Ausangate is the fifth highest mountain in Peru and the highest in Cusco at 6,384 MASL. Reaching it is a challenging but unforgettable experience, the best way to connect with the spirit of the Peruvian Andes.
Ausangate is called the “Creator of Waters and protector of livestock” because its glacial mass gives rise to rivers flowing toward the lowland jungle and numerous lagoons, the largest and second in Cusco being Sibinacocha Lagoon.
Additionally, opposite Ausangate lies Sinakara, its complementary counterpart, where thousands of pilgrims from all directions gather annually to celebrate the Qoyllur Riti festival, earning Ausangate the title of Apu, Lord Protector.
