This fascinating program is for birdwatching enthusiasts at Abra Málaga, located at 4,200 MASL. Abra Málaga is home to a vast variety of flora and fauna, especially for bird lovers.

Day 1: Ollantaytambo - Abra Málaga Cloud Forest
We depart early from the hotel in our miniVan for a 1-hour-20-minute journey, passing the highest point and descending to Canchayoc, where we begin observing endemic birds such as Marcapata Spinetail, Inca Wren, Rufous Antpitta, White Browed Conebill, Unstreaked Tit Tyrant, and Sapphire Vented Puffleg. We’ll have a box breakfast en route and continue descending, observing more birds like Parodi’s Hemispingus, Puna Thistletail, Trilling Tapaculo, Cusco Brush Finch, White-throated Hawk, Scarlet Breasted Mountain Tanager, and Red Crested Cotinga. We’ll have a box lunch in San Luis and continue birdwatching on the return route, searching for Red and White Antpitta, Swordbill Hummingbird, Barred Fruiteater, Black Capped Hemispingus, Gray Breasted Mountain Toucan, Violet Throated Starfrontlet, Pale Footed Swallow, Brown Backed Chat Tyrant, Citrine Warbler, Moustached Flowerpiercer, and Three Striped Hemispingus. After observing these birds, we return to Ollantaytambo for an overnight stay at the hotel.

Day 2: Ollantaytambo - Abra Málaga Upper Polylepis
We leave early from the hotel after breakfast and start the journey in our transport with stops along the route to observe other endemic birds such as Chestnut Breasted Mountain Finch, White Tufted Sunbeam, Junin Canastero, Creamy Crested Spinetail, and Taczanowsky Tinamou. After observing these birds, we continue to the upper area at 4,300 MASL and begin a hike to the Polylepis forest, where we can spot special and endemic birds like White Browed Tit Spinetail, Royal Cinclodes, Tawny Tit Spinetail, Giant Conebill, Ash Breasted Tit Tyrant, Stripe Headed Antpitta, Blue Mantled Thornbill, Andean Hillstar, Puna Tapaculo, Line Fronted Canastero, Rusty Fronted Canastero, Cinereous Ground Tyrant, Andean Flicker, Andean Condor, Mountain Caracara, Streak Throated Canastero, White Winged Diuca Finch, Black Siskin, Thick Billed Siskin, Peruvian Sierra Finch, and many more. We then descend to the road where our transport awaits for a box lunch, after which we return to Cusco. Thank you.
